What is the Endocannabinoid System?

This Endocannabinoid system can be hard to pronounce, let alone explain.

If you can wrap your head around this you will see why CBD can help us so much. You will see that CBD products like the ones we supply could have a significant long term positive effect on your everyday life. It is unlikely that you heard of this system growing up or in school. While we were in school we all got the 101 on the Digestive and Nervous systems. The endocannabinoid system was not discovered until 1990. This fact has contributed to the stigma associated with CBD and Cannabis. We thought we knew the body’s systems inside and out. The endocannabinoid system is specialized in the human body embracing a network of cannabinoid receptors but every mammal has one of these systems. You can read below or you can check out the videos which explain the system in a lot more detail.

The Public Stigma

There is a lot of science behind this and CBD is going to be around for a long time as the public starts to understand that this is not just some fad and big Pharma is lying and downplaying this amazing Plant called Cannabis. This system is all over our bodies and explains why CBD has such a profound benefit on our bodies. This is both its biggest strength and weakness when it comes to the general public. The fact it can help with so many physical and mental issues has everyone thinking it can’t be that true.

Why were these here?

The research continued and the cannabis plant was found to react with these receptors. This then led to the name ENDOCANNABINOIDS and it has been called this ever since. It is of course slightly more complicated than this but let not make it confusing. The above is heavily researched.

1.The Endocannabinoid System and Endocannabinoids (eCBs)

Anandamide. This is a cannabinoid your body produces and it means supreme joy. It also has been given the name the “bliss” chemical. When people see something nice that they want to eat and then they eat it this is the chemical that is released. It works with the CB1 receptors only.

The endocannabinoids or ECBS are unique. The information from the brain to the cells usually goes one way. The chemicals released from the brain would flow from here to the target nerve cell. The ECBS flows the other way and this is truly unique. They then connect to the CB1 receptors and block the flow of other chemicals. Once they do their job they are then broken down and they flow back into the system. They only work for a short period of time. The body can make these chemicals up but not on-demand and in large quantities and like protein we need to ingest this compound if we want to feel the benefits. We need protein to build muscle and we think you need CBD to sustain a healthy body also and it should not underestimate how important a role CBD can make to your overall health.

2. CB1 Receptors in The Endocannabinoid system

CB1 receptors are present in the:

1. Brain (distributed throughout the brain)
2. Fat cells
3. Muscles Gut
4. Liver
5. Thyroid and adrenal glands
6. Male and female reproductive systems
7. Lungs
8. Kidneys

3. CB2 Receptors in The Endocannabinoid system

Just like the CB1 receptors the CB2 receptors will work and interact with certain parts of the body. Think of it in terms of two keys with two locks. These systems are mainly located in other parts of the body such as –

1. The digestive tract
2. Bone marrow
3. The immune system
4. The spleen
5. The tonsils

What happens if The Endocannabinoid system isn’t up to par?

“Homeostasis” is used a lot when referring to this system. It means the internal balance of the system. CBD is it works internally. If you have a broken leg you can feel and see the damage and you will do something to fix it via a cast and rest. We do not see the inflammation of our internal systems until the symptoms occur. Your body will find a new balance. You will get better but this is not its original balance.  The Endocannabinoid system should be helped to maintain balance. Prevention is better than cure. Your health truly is your wealth so look after it so you can avoid such issues as listed below.

FibromyalgiaIrritable bowel diseaseMigraines, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Bipolar disorder, and Schizophrenia.

The Good news for your The Endocannabinoid System

There is a lot in the above to read and take in. The reason why it is one of the first things we wrote about is that having a simple understanding of this system means you know why you are taking it. What is your health worth to you? The price of a cup of coffee a day?

It is no wonder that Pharmaceutical companies fight against Hemp and Cannabis as treatments. It is hard to place a patent on a plant that naturally occurs in nature!!!

All material here has been sourced from various places and like all the blogs here are freely available to anyone to look up and research. I do not own any of this material and I cannot take credit for any of it. If I wanted to try and protect the material I could reference it and protect it in other ways. This is not an extremely difficult thing to do. Our main goal is to educate the consumer.

We hope you enjoyed reading about The Endocannabinoid system and if you have any questions or comments please let us know.
