CBD Frequently Asked Questions

CBD Questions

What is CBD oil?

CBD stands for “Cannabidiol” –  Can-na-bid-i-ol.
This is just one item or cannabinoid that is found in large quantities in the Cannabis or Hemp plant. Most CBD oil comes from industrial hemp rather than psychoactive marijuana strains. The two plants are related however industrial hemp does not contain nearly as much psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol ( THC)

What are Flavonoids?

Flavonoids are polyphenolic molecules containing 15 carbon atoms and are soluble in water. They provide health benefits through cell signaling pathways and antioxidant effects and are found in a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

YES-The cytochrome P450 enzyme is involved in metabolizing many pharmaceutical drugs. You may have heard about people being told not to use grapefruit juice as there are compounds in this that will have the same effect on medications. Just like grapefruit, CBD can either reduce or increase the effects of other drugs. This is why we stress that if you are ever in doubt you should always seek a doctor. They sometimes advise not to eat grapefruit shortly before or after taking a medication.

I personally, not the case for everyone, have come of sleepers and other medications due to CBD. Other people have reported a reduction in their medications, however, you should always consult a doctor if in doubt, regardless of the large positive reports from the CBD Industry. They are testing CBD for its use to enhance anti-biotics and for treatments on Covid-19. Even though the results are promising, nothing is set in stone.

What is the difference between Isolate CBD and Whole Plant CBD?

With CBD isolates, you receive only 1 cannabinoid (Cannabidiol – CBD) out of the 120 odd in the Hemp plant. The whole plant provides everything the plant has to offer from CBD to the terpenes and everything in-between.

What methods are used to filter the Raw/Whole plant extract?

CO2 extraction is the most common. You can also use other solvents like ethanol and cold press extraction. Some companies use a mixture of the above methods.

Are there side effects from taking CBD oil?

Yes. Having said this CBD oil is generally considered to be safe for most people, and we have yet to witness anyone having negative side effects from my products. In cases, we have come across where side effects were reported the people involved took extremely large doses of CBD. These doses were well above the advised suggested doses. You can read one such study HERE.

How do I take CBD and at what dosage?

Get in touch and let us help you with this otherwise follow the suggested dosage on the products and leaflets supplied.
Because Hemp plants are grown differently, depending on the supplier, the quality of the CBD products at the end of the process could be different. The standard of the production facility will also have an effect on the end result of the CBD products.  This in conjunction with the unique individual you are in terms of genetic makeup and the state of your endocannabinoid system means no one dosage works for everyone.

The above factors play into the way you administrate the CBD as some methods are more bio-available than others. For example, Vaping offers a near-instant reaction however the effect dissipates quickly. On the other hand, Tinctures can take up to 15-mins to take effect yet the results last longer than vaping. The bottom line is, not all CBD products are made equal and you are unique. Take us up on the offer of allowing us to work with you in selecting a CBD product, to the consumption of the products.  Our goal is to help you find a therapeutic dose that works while making the products last as long as possible.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

No. And I am sorry to say, yes as there are many poor quality CBD products on the market and not just in Ireland. A high-quality CBD brand will have a seed to bottle plan. The products will also come from a GMP Certified facility and these two factors help to ensure quality and consistency. In Ireland on towards the end of 2019 companies were tested on various aspects of the FSAI regulations. 15 companies failed for various reasons and many were due to the fact that there was THC detected.

To be transparent it needs to be noted that even if these companies had 0.2% CBD in the products there is a high likely hood a test would not show THC. Someone would have to take around 2000mg of CBD in a day and even then there is only about a 25% chance of testing positive. Our products have ZERO THC in them so you will not fail a test for THC.
